Epcot

- Kyle Moffatt -

Epcot is a wonderful place that gives you the once in a lifetime experience to view many countries in one day and make memories that last forever.  (Note: This is NOT a complete list of attractions... These are just the ones that I recommend.)  Enjoy!!

I have rated each recommended attraction with a number from 1-10.  ***These ratings are only my opinion!!***

Future World

Attractions-->

  • Spaceship Earth (6) - This is the attraction that you see as you enter the park.  It is the building that looks like a giant golf ball.  It is a ride that tells you how technology has advanced over the years and the potential that it has to come.  It is a great place to cool off and take a breather.  (Tip: Spaceship Earth is usually crowded during the morning and clears up in the afternoon.)
  • Innoventions (7) - This hands-on pavilion allows you to see the latest technology, sometimes not even on the market yet.  (Note: There are two sides to Innoventions - East and West... If you have time, check out both... They are both different and changing all the time.)
  • The Land (7) - This is a pavilion loaded with things about our earth... mainly food.  The good attractions inside are:
  1. Living with the Land (7) - This attraction takes you inside the greenhouse where all of the vegetables are grown for the restaurants inside and provides a tour of our earth.
  2. Soarin' (9) - This new attraction taken from Disney's California Adventure is sure to sweep you off of your feet and take your breath away.  Definite MUST-SEE!!!  (See details on my home page)
  • Imagination! (7) - This is a big pavilion featuring three unique attractions:
  1. Journey into Imagination with Figment (6) - This is a unique ride that "sparks your imagination."  (Note: For those of you who have ridden this before, it was remodeled and Figment was not included... It has been remodeled again and now, once again, it includes Figment.)
  2. Imageworks: "What If" Labs (7) - This is a fun place to visit after the attraction mentioned above.  It allows you to take a picture and e-mail it to some of your friends.
  3. Honey, I Shrunk the Audience (8) - This is a unique attraction that features a 3-D show with a few added surprises.  This is a definite must-see!!
  • Test Track (9) - This has got to be one of the best rides in Epcot, and possibly even Walt Disney World.  This attraction lets you feel what it is like to be in a car at GMC and feel what it is like to be tested on.  A definite must-see for thrill seekers!! (Tip: If you want to go on this ride, even if you don't plan to go on it in the morning, get a FASTPASS* for it as soon as you walk in the gate of Epcot!!... There is always a long line (usually about 2 hours wait) for this attraction... FASTPASSes are limited an run out very fast for this attraction.  Don't be surprised if you get a FASTPASS in the morning and don't get to use it until the evening!!)
  • Mission: Space (10) - If you like thrills, you will LOVE this ride... This new attraction features a realistic virtual reality space shuttle to Mars!!  But this is not a fake looking virtual reality simulator.  This is the REAL DEAL!!  (Note: If you are claustraphobic, DON'T ride this ride.  Although it is fun, you are in a tight space.)
  • Universe of Energy (8) - This attraction is a tour of how methods of getting energy have increased over the years.  Ellen DeGeneres makes this attraction funny, and it is a great ride to take a break from the hot park.  It is a very cool, slow attraction, but very enjoyable.

Restaurants-->

  • The Land (7) - This pavilion mentioned above features the following places to eat:
  1. Garden Grill (7) - This unique restaurant is inside of the Living with the Land attraction.  The floor rotates around slowly as you eat, allows good views of parts of the attraction, and includes characters everywhere!!

Shops-->

  • Ice Station Cool (7) - This is a unique shop.  In fact, it doesn't look like a shop at all.  It looks like an igloo.  When you walk in this 'igloo,' you'll see REAL snow... After that, you get to the shop.  Inside, you can sample soft drinks from around the world!! (Tip: Some of the drinks are good, but some are not so appetizing!!  So, I guess the question to ask yourself is, are you brave??
  • Imagination! (8) - As mentioned above, the Imagination! pavilion features some attractions, but also a shop:
  1. Imageworks Shop (8) - Located next to the "What If" Labs, mentioned above, is this shop.  It allows you to take a picture and then laser it into a glass cube!!

World Showcase

Attractions-->

  • The American Adventure (7) - This American-themed pavilion contains two great shows:
  1. The American Adventure Show (7) - This spectacular 26-minute show celebrates the history of America in all of its glory.
  2. America Gardens Theatre (7) - This theatre, located across from the main pavilion, is always changing.  There is always a new show playing here.  The best, in my opinion, is the Christmas showing.  (Tip: If you plan to go to the Christmas showing, make reservations... it fills up fast!!)
  • China (?) - This pavilion contains one new showing:
  1. Reflections of China (?) - This new presentation show China and all of its beauties.  I have not seen this one yet, but I have seen the first one.  I would recommend trying it...
  • Norway (7) - This pavilion contains one enjoyable attraction:
  1. Maelstrom (7) - This attraction features the history of Norway in a boat ride.  I would definitely recommend seeing this ride.  Although it is short, it is well worth it... (Tip: Most of the time, the line is very long... I would recommend getting a FASTPASS.)
  • Mexico (8) - This pavilion contains a great ride:
  1. El Rio Del Tiempo: The River of Time (8) - This attraction is a great way to see the history of Mexico and cool off.  There is almost never a line.
  • Living Statues (9) - These people pretending to be statues are a definite must-see!!  They are located in front of the France and Italy pavilions at certain times in the day.  They are very entertaining and a great way to get a picture.
  • Illuminations: Reflections of Earth (10) - This nighttime spectacular is the best way to end your day at Epcot.  This features lasers, lights, fireworks, fire, water, and a giant globe signifying our unity.  (See picture below.)

Restaurants-->

  • Canada (8) - There is one great restaurant here:
  1. Le Cellier Steakhouse (8) - This unique restaurant, located deep inside of the Canadian pavilion offers exceptional steak and other dishes.
  • Japan (8) - There is also two great restaurants in Japan:
  1. Matsu No Ma Lounge (7) - This walk-in restaurant offers a variety of Japanese dishes, especially sushi.
  2. Teppanyaki Dining Room (9) - Located right next to the previous restaurant, this fine-dining experience offers a hibachi grill as your table!!

Shops-->

  • Mexico (7) - Inside this pavilion lies a great shop:
  1. Plaza De Los Amigos (7) - Located right inside of Mexico, this shop features all kind of Mexican items, but the really great part of it is in the back.  Located right next to the entrance of El Rio Del Tiempo, is a glass shop.  Even if you don't want anything, take a look at the glass blowers making all kind of glass items under a flame.

*FASTPASS - a FASTPASS is a ticket that you can get to cut the amount of time you have to wait for an attraction.  Only some attractions offer Disney's FASTPASS.  Check your park map for a list of attraction with Disney's FASTPASS. On the attractions that offer Disney's FASTPASS, you go up to the FASTPASS machines, enter your park ticket, and out will pop a FASTPASS ticket with a time frame stamped on it.  Come back to that attraction within that time frame and you will enter a FASTPASS line with little to no wait!! (Note: The FASTPASS machines will not allow you to have more than one FASTPASS per ticket until you either use it OR two hours have gone by.)
