MGM Studios

- Kyle Moffatt -

Listed here are the attractions that I like in MGM Studios.  (Note: This is NOT a complete list of attractions... These are just the ones that I recommend.)  Enjoy!!

I have rated each recommended attraction with a number from 1-10.  ***These ratings are only my opinion!!***

MGM Studios

Attractions-->

  • Backlot Tour (8) - This is a great ride.  It first takes you on a tour of how they made Disney films and then you get to go on the tram to experience the backlot of all of the Disney memorobilia.  This ride is located in the back of the park.
  • Beauty and the Beast (7) - Located on Sunset Blvd., this is a great stage show based on the Disney classic movie, "Beauty and the Beast."
  • Fantasmic! (10) - This, by far, is the greatest Disney show ever created.  NOT TO BE MISSED!!  This nighttime spectacular usually happens once a night (sometimes two) and combines lights, lasers, fire, water, characters, and movies projected on water to make the best Disney show ever!! (Tip: A great idea would be to do the Fantasmic! Dining Experience.  This is where you make reservations to eat between a certain time frame at Hollywood Brown Derby or Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano [see below].  Request the Fantasmic! Dining Experience and they will get you passes to enter the show early and will have a whole section reserved for you!!)
  • The Great Movie Ride (8) - This is a great ride that takes you into the movies created by MGM.  (Tip: This is also a great ride to cool off in.)
  • Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular (9) - This is a great stage show that takes you behind the scenes and tells you how stunt films are created...
  • Rockin' Roller Coaster (9) - This is a GREAT ride for thrill seekers!!  In this attraction, you speed from about 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds!!  AWESOME...
  • Tower of Terror (9) - This has got to be one of my favorite rides... And another great ride for thrill-seekers!!  (Tip: A lot of people are scared of this ride and refuse to go on it, but I can tell you almost for a fact that if you ride it once, you will want to ride it again.)
  • Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Play It! (8) - Have you ever seen this show?  Now you can get a chance to play it yourself!!  And the best part is, you don't have to be one of the ten fastest finger people to play... You have the same chance to play from your seat due to a keypad in front of everyone!!  Great show!!  (Tip: I found out from a cast member that the first one or two shows in the morning are usually not that crowded and you can usually walk right in.  This is great, and also you have a better chance of getting in the hot seat.  Otherwise, I would reccomend a FASTPASS*)
  • Lights! Motors! Action! (9) - This new stunt show taken from the Disney Studios in Disneyland Paris is sure to keep you at the edge of your seat.  AWESOME!!  (See details on my home page)

Restaurants-->

  • Hollywood Brown Derby (6) - The food at this restaurant is ok, but the main reason I put it here is because it offers the Fantasmic! Dining Experience (see above), I have also heard you can eat with a Disney Imagineer!!  Call 407-WDW-DINE for reservations and/or more information.  Also click here and scroll down after the Hollywood Brown Derby pictures for more information.
  • Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano (8) - This restaurant, along with the Hollywood Brown Derby, also offers the Fantasmic! Dining Experience (see above) and offers, in my opinion, better food.  A blend of Italian including pizza and pasta makes up this quaint little restaurant tucked away in the back of the Disney MGM Studios
  • Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater (9) - This is a very unique restaurant.  You sit in a car, the people roll around in roller skates, and you watch old, short films on a big screen.  The scenery makes it look like you are in a Dine-In Movie at night!!
  • 50's Prime Time Cafe (8) - This great restaurant features "mom" (your server) teaching table manners and letting you enjoy a great "home-cooked meal."  (Note: This is a great place to come with children because they will probably get a laugh at their parents getting in trouble with "mom." he he he)
  • Starring Rolls Bakery (7) - This is a great place to eat breakfast.  This sunken little outside bakery is on the corner of Sunset Blvd. and features freshly baked pastries.

Shops-->

  • Mickey's of Hollywood (7) - This is a great store for souvenirs...
  • Writer's Stop (8) - Great place for snacks, books, and CDs... This is connected to Sci-Fi and is a great place to wait for a table there
  • The Beverly Sunset (9) - Located on Sunset Blvd. this has got to be a one of the best shops here, especially if you like Disney Villains

*FASTPASS - a FASTPASS is a ticket that you can get to cut the amount of time you have to wait for an attraction.  Only some attractions offer Disney's FASTPASS.  Check your park map for a list of attraction with Disney's FASTPASS. On the attractions that offer Disney's FASTPASS, you go up to the FASTPASS machines, enter your park ticket, and out will pop a FASTPASS ticket with a time frame stamped on it.  Come back to that attraction within that time frame and you will enter a FASTPASS line with little to no wait!! (Note: The FASTPASS machines will not allow you to have more than one FASTPASS per ticket until you either use it OR two hours have gone by.)
