Walt Disney World Info Site

- Kyle Moffatt -

Walt Disney World is filled with great things.  It maintains its glory by generating new attractions very often.  It is filled with a variety of magical things - some not as obvious as others.  I hope this unofficial guide to Walt Disney World will not only state the best attractions, in my opinion, but also give tips and secrets on what to do.  You can either look at my favorite attractions and ratings in detail by going to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, MGM Studios, and Animal Kingdom links, or you can go directly to my Don't Miss List for a list of my favorite attractions.  If you are traveling to Walt Disney World soon, then have a nice trip... I hope this guide will be helpful!!

Disneyland's 50th Anniversary -- The Happiest Celebration on Earth!!

This huge celebration began on May 5th, 2005 and will include the opening of many attractions in Disney parks all around the world!  To kick off this big event, Disney is taking attractions and shows from around the world and reopening them up in different Disney parks.  In Walt Disney World, Soarin' Over California opened in the Land pavilion in Epcot (see more info below.)  It was originally in Disneyland in California.  Also, Cinderellabration is a new stage show presented daily on the Castle Forecourt Stage in the Magic Kingdom.  Finally, Lights! Motors! Action! opened up in the Streets of America in MGM Studios.  This high-action stunt show, originally in Disneyland Paris, involves cars, fires, and many other great effects!

What's New in Walt Disney World?

Soarin'

This attraction taken from Disney's California Adventure, and now also featured in the Land pavilion at Epcot, takes you on a breathtaking journey over California's greatest scenery.  Suspended in a hang-glider, guests rise 40 feet off of the ground and watch a high definition film that takes you over California's greatest landmarks on a large IMAX screen.  You can even smell the oranges when you pass over the orange groves and the salty sea when you pass over it!  This is a definite must-see!

Lights! Motors! Action!

This high action stunt show taken from the Disney Studios in Disneyland Paris is now also currently featured in the back of the Disney MGM Studios.  This show will definitely keep you at the edge of your seat while you watch an action film being filmed right before your eyes!  You will see cars chasing each other, cars jumping ramps, cars nearly missing, jetskis speeding, motorcycles roaring, and even people getting caught on fire!  This is a definite must-see!

Wishes

Recently, Walt Disney World replaced its old fireworks show, "Fantasy in the Sky", and created a new one that exceeds it tremendously - "Wishes".  It is the largest fireworks display ever at the Magic Kingdom.  This show is approximately 12 minutes long, it contains 557 fireworks firing cues, and there are approximately 655 individual pieces of pyrotechnics.  It is almost 5 minutes longer than "Fantasy in the Sky" and much bigger.  "Wishes" is now currently playing in the Magic Kingdom.  You won't want to miss it!!

Some of the music used in "Wishes" includes classical favorites such as "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves," "Pinnochio," "Fantasia," Cinderella," "Peter Pan," "Sleeping Beauty," "The Little Mermaid," "Beauty and the Beast," "Aladdin," and "Hercules."

Mickey's PhillharMagic

Mickey's Philharmagic is currently the latest attraction in the Magic Kingdom.  This replaced "Legend of the Lion King" in the same building.  (**Just a thought - Perhaps the idea of Mickey's PhillharMagic comes from what used to be housed in that same building even before "Legend of the Lion King," an orchestra directed by Mickey known as the Mickey Mouse Revue.**)

This is a 3-D show that combines lights, effects, and a fun-filled classic Disney experience.  In this show you will encounter classic character that we all know including, the big cheese, MICKEY.

Disney's Pop Century Resort

Disney's Pop Century Resort is the newest addition to WDW's Value Resorts.  This resort runs for the same price as the other value resorts: Disney's All Star Sports, Music, and Movies.  This 2,880-room resort was designed in decades and how our world has changed.

Stitch's Great Escape

This new attraction replaced the ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter in Tomorrowland.  This attraction is basically the same principle as its predecessor but toned down a bit.  In fact, rumor has it that it may go under rehab again to make it even less intimidating.  (I know I have some of these attractions still listed under the upcoming attractions... I am having problems with my website and cannot figure out how to get rid of it... Anyway, they are now currently up and running :) )

What happened to the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon?

This new show replaced the previous showing in the saloon.  The other difference is you have to wait for a specific showtime to go in.  No more walk-ins allowed.  This new show features Goofy in a rootin' tootin' jamboree.

Upcoming Attractions

  • Expedition: Everest - Now in the construction stage at Disney's Animal Kingdom, this will be Walt Disney World's 4th mountain.  This attraction will feature a wild roller coaster that goes forwards and backwards, and it will feature an encounter with the abominable snowman. (Scheduled to open in 2006)
  • Stitch's Great Escape - This attraction will replace Alien Encounter and will be the same idea, except for toned down as far as the scare level by using characters from Disney's Lilo and Stitch.  (Scheduled to open in 2005)
  • Lights, Motors, Action! - This attraction will be an extreme stunt show that will take over New York Street.  It will feature cars and other elements to produce a spectacular stunt show.  (Scheduled to open in 2005)
  • Soarin' Over California - This attraction's queue line only will take over the "Food Rocks!" attraction.  (That's a scary thought).  This attraction was originally placed in Disney's California Adventure in California, but was such a hit they are building one here as well.  (Scheduled to open in 2005)
